Summer Colors

Since ever watermelon's been my favourite fruit, I can be ill and feel bad but I can't say "no" to a watermelon slice. I've always tought that this preference is due to the fact that I'm born at summertime and am totally summer addicted (hate cold, hate fog, hate anything that's winter relatated with the only exception of Chritsmas time).

Guess what? I ate the whole slice before painting it (it was bigger than in the paint) and had to use a photo for reference!

Keys of my home

I had this aceo size paper on my hand and wanted to do something that didn't take much time to be painted, no ideas (also if my head is a sort of vulcano sometimes I have troube in finding the right inspiration).
Than come hubby putting my keys on the table to send me checking the mail. There they lied for a while, just the time to sketch it down and add some color.

Stealing Candies - NFAC

I listed today in E-Bay NFAC (Nibblefest art Contest) this paint.
The NFAC is monthly themed art contests. Contests run from the 20th to the 27th of every month. All artwork is listed at 99¢ with no reserve!

Call for artists.

While strolling in Facebook's highways I discovered this "call for artists", due to its title I entered to have a look. I was fashinated by the subject, a strong and deeply thoughful (is it allowed to say "thoughful"?) topic for a painting challange.
The title is "A BOOK ABOUT DEATH", cool isn't it?

I wasn't sure I would have entered in this cyclopic attempt, but this seed has put roots in my brain, and now roots are in my stomach and I'm thinking that I WANT to do it.

I went in contact with its promoter, Mr. Rose, and he asked me to translate the descriprion of the exibition in italian, which I did pleasently because I feel that the more we are the better it is.
The exibition will be in New York at the EMILY HARVEY FOUNDATION.

What's nice its that you don't have to bring your paint there, and the originals remains in your property, so anyone from everywhere can partecipate.

I invite you to have a look at the prospect and eventually to join it!

I'd like to hear and see what you think about death, having lost the last year 3 very dear persons I'm very much into this subject, have you ever thought to paint the death?
The feelings it brings to you?
Don't you feel that we just avoid to talk about death because it's too much sad, too much personal???

This is not my favourite subject to paint, (if I ever had one LOL).

But here are the works I delivered for Francesca's First Communion.
The only fact that she loved all was just a prize for me!

What's supposed I'm doing at this time.

I have decided: I'm not a good blogger.
I'd like to post more often and to say here much more interesting things, but I don't do it.
Why?
It's simple, I can't find the time to do all the things I love or must do.
I always miss a half day, each day, to spend doing things I usually don't do.

Well, you should be asking what I'm doing in this days, I'm not painting that much, not in the sense I'd mean I usually paint, I'm preparing a gift for Francesca, my friend Sabrina's daughter. Francesca will have her First Communion on May 3rd and I'm preparing a set of OSWOA painting that she'll give to her relatives and friends at the party that will follow the ceremony.
Theoretically the most important Christian Festivity is the Baptism
(Shower), but as we usually give it to the baby when he/she's very little, it becomes that the First Communion is the real first act one can do participating in first person.

So fine, Francesca came to my show and watch all the paintings I hanged to the wall and she decided she loved the flowers with the green painted matte; here I go and I'm preparing those for her. It's not a big work, it will be 8 or max 10 little paintings, I'll show 'em here if won't be in a hurry and if I'll be able to take some pics.

I want to add a picture of what's happening here around, spring is blooming, it rains a lot and when the sun pops out the clouds it's too hot!

The Show is off...

Finally the show is off. I recovered my paints yesterday afternoon and now I need a hundred days of complete relax!
I didn't thought it was so tiring, and every evening came back home whit the only will to splash myself in bed and rest there until lunch time! (Nothing of this has ever happened :D)

This my first exibition has been a great experience, 31 paints showed!
Thanks to all the people that has came to see, and to my friends that has invited me to join them in this adventure. Here are some pictures I took there.

I colori con cui Angela Agugliate riempie i suoi oli, rispecchiano il bisogno “primario”, quasi biologico che l’artista ha di dipingere. Analogamente, i suggerimenti che offrono lo spunto per i soggetti originano delle impressioni colte nella vita quotidiana: le emozioni offerte da un paesaggio crepuscolare, dall’eleganza del movimento animale e della figura umana. Le ceramiche dipinta da Franca Pessone inducono a viaggi immaginari che, tra foglie, fiori e ori, conducono da bisanzio a Vienna. La caratura preziosa e onirica di questi lavori riporta come un mantra alla dimensione dell’esplorazione, che del resto è metaforicamente quella che compie l’artista quando utilizza la pittura come catarsi. Ci si perde nei luoghi e nei tempi, ma ci si ritrova nel sé: questo comunica l’arte di Franca Pessone.

I never thought that preparing a show could be like having a nap, but neither thought it was so stressful I made this one to relax the mind. It helped!

Alfa Romeo

This is my last work, it's an Alfa Romeo C6 2500 tagged Pininfarina Design, I' think it's right age is around 1935-40
Surely it's considered a museum piece but it's lovely to see it running in our streets.

I won the 6 of Hearts.

Due to the number six (also called the Devil number) and due to hearts, the sign of love, I've thought to what seduces love more than love itself: a diamond ring.

1) Mine is not the worst allery in the world, but it's quite invalidating, I'm allergic to... Mint! I can't wash my teeth with normal pastes, I can't cure a throatache and I can't eat most of chewing-gums.

2) I played basketball in the major Italian Legue, (also if I'm quite short for a basketball player).

3) When I was joung I didn't attended an artist school because one of my school mates was better than me in drawing. I thought she was fine for an artist school and not me. Probably she did something else in her life, I still eat my nails for not attending it.

4) I married a man who is the exact opposite of me... The last thing he cares of is art!

5) I've been working for 15 years on computers, now I enjoy it!

6)There's a song I know since I was a little (less than one year) baby, it's a Brazilian song who's words I know in italian, no-one ever translated it, it's called "voce abuso".

7) I can still remeber the map of the home I lived in until I was 2, I can remeber exactly many particulars that turned to be real and that both my parens didn't remember. Actually I find very diffcult to say what I cooked yesterday for dinner.

Pretty in Red! - Carino in rosso!

Watercolor 13 x 10 inches on 180 lbs Favini Torchon Paper, painted with Winsor & Newton artist's paints.

This is an old (1970 circa) Italian telephone, most of our homes had it in turtle-dove color or in black, but I can hardly remember that there were also in pomegranate and dark-green.

Forgive the pink background, the paper is bigger than my scanner and the edge of the sheet takes the shadow of the paint below (which is obviously white)

I'm not sure if this is the last version of this paint, I need to add something, but I'll come back on it later.

Mardi Gras TW - Who are you Masquerine?

This ACEO is appositely made for the TW "Mardi Gras" of this month. This is a little masque I had when I was a little girl, my parents couldn't buy me a real costume every year and often I used a simple masque to partecipate to Carnival Parties.

Here am I, back.
Have a lot of work to do, I'm preparing my very first show... so very happily I'm jumping head down on painting with my brain full of ideas.

This is the first:

This is a typewriter, the glorius Underwood model Number 5, a museum piece and one of the most appreciated ever.

I love those old objects that also if not very easy to use bring back memories and feelings.

A hard time...

It's been a hard month here. At first my Dad's surgery, than his pneumonias, in the end, on Dec 29th he's left his life and us...

It's been like loosing a hand, it's like loosing something that you've ever had. You feel alone with him and with his absence.

It will pass, I'm here waiting for the time to go by.
Brushes are dry at moment, but I'll be back soon, that's what he wanted from me!
